Rocker Skating Podcast interview: Sonja Hilmer on her late-blooming career and creativity

On this week’s Rocker Skating Podcast, Sonja Hilmer joined me to talk about her late-blooming career, her creativity, and how she challenges herself to push the boundaries in her own way.

“And it was really honestly through the lockdown that I started to think about [my career] more because at that point I was an adult and learning things that a lot of my peers were learning at a younger age.”

Sonja also joined me for Episode 4 of the Rocker Rewatch series, where she commentates on her cult favorite Take Five short program, with the step sequence that went viral this season.

“And I just sort of decided that I wasn't really going to care about the perfectionism. I'm still a perfectionist, but … I just decided to be proud of and show off all the little things that I was doing that at the time wasn't really getting recognition or didn't count for anything that I just still thought was cool.”
