VIDEO: #50 of 2016-17 - A first for Australia

April 30, 2017

50. Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya/Harley Windsor AUS
Junior Worlds free skate

It was the first time ever that Australian skaters topped the podium at an ISU Championships. Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya/Harley Windsor won Junior Worlds in March after taking us through a season where they were learning to become world class pair skaters in front of our eyes. They teamed up early in 2016 and skated both junior and senior competitions during the season. And we saw them go through growing pains in competition - with moments of great potential (winning JGP Estonia) and moments where they were still figuring out how to skate with each other (from going through four different throws during the season to botching twists in competition).

But they grew and persevered in their first season together, winning Junior Worlds and going on to qualifying for the free skate at Worlds and finishing 16th. Australia can now say that they have a real potential contender in pair skating.
