On this week’s Rocker Skating Podcast, we have a special podcast-only interview with Italy’s Lara Naki Gutmann. When I asked her about her music and program selection process, she said, “I always want like every season to do something different and doing like weird or particular stuff is a motivation for me. Throughout the whole season, training everyday, I like learn new movements and new way to do everything—that's really motivating and that's one of the reasons we try every year to do [something different].”
Lara Naki also joined me for the first installment of the Rocker Skating Program Rewatch and commentates on her own Jaws “SharkNaki” program.
She also talks about some of her favorite skaters growing up—she remembers watching the Torino 2006 Olympics when she was three!—and a few names she mentioned were Carolina Kostner, Michelle Kwan, Yuna Kim, Stephane Lambiel, and Patrick Chan. There’s a pattern of admiring some of the artistic legends of the sport!
Listen to Lara Naki Gutmann’s interview, as well as our full discussion on Nebelhorn Trophy and Nepela Memorial, and the phenomenal skating that we saw at those two events.
