They have two World medals, but it wasn't until this season where they really looked at ease with the music that they were skating to. It was the case with their short dance, and it was absolutely true of their free dance.

And this free dance was at its absolute best at the US Championships - Madison Chock/Evan Bates skated perhaps the performance of their career in Kansas City, winning that segment of the competition with an incredible skate.

This program was no warhorse. They realized after six seasons together that it required them thinking out of the box for them to get into their comfort zone. This music, and the program's choreography by Christopher Dean, suited them absolutely perfectly. No time like the season before the Olympics to figure out what works for them.
