When skating fans first found out that Polina Tsurskaya was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease that affected her joints, many were hoping that they hadn't seen the last of this great talent.

And luckily, she came back. At her very first Grand Prix, she debuted in spectacular fashion - and it was this free skate, a strikingly more mature look and feel to the program than in her junior days, that secured her the bronze medal (arguably, should've been the silver).

NHK Trophy would prove to be the highlight of Tsurskaya's season. It was too bad she couldn't repeat this success later on at Russian Nationals. She has since changed coaches during this off-season.
